The mark of a fine watch.

I · The mark

V · Seven centuries of proof
  1. Edward I orders silver to be tested and struck with a leopard’s head — in heraldry, a lion.

  2. The mark is crowned and testing moves to Goldsmiths’ Hall, the hall that gives us the hallmark.

  3. Elizabeth I grants the Bishop of Ely’s garden to Sir Christopher Hatton. Hatton Garden takes his name.

  4. 9 St. Cross Street, Hatton Garden. Every watch we sell carries our mark.

Pre-Owned Luxury Watches from an Independent Hatton Garden Dealer

Kings & Queens Watches is an independent dealer in pre-owned luxury watches, based at 9 St. Cross Street in Hatton Garden, London. We concentrate on six houses: Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Richard Mille, Cartier and Hublot. All of our watches are inspected and authenticated by experienced specialists before they are offered for sale and, unless a listing says otherwise, each one is here in stock and can be seen before it leaves us.

You can buy, sell or part exchange with us, ask us to find a particular reference, or come in for a private appointment to talk things through. Pre-owned watches carry a 12-month mechanical warranty from delivery, UK delivery is free, insured and signed for, and you have 14 days to return a purchase for a full refund. Customers rate us five stars on Google, and the sections below explain how each part of the service works.

What You Will Find in Our Collection of Watches

The collection changes constantly, because we buy directly for our own stock rather than listing pieces on someone else's behalf. The mix follows what clients sell to us and what they ask us to find, so it spans modern Rolex sports and dress models, Audemars Piguet Royal Oaks, technical Richard Mille designs and Cartier classics. The full, current list is always on our shop page.

Each listing gives the reference number, dial, case size and year, and states plainly whether the watch comes with its original box and papers. If the model you want isn't listed, tell us what you are looking for: we source specific pieces for clients on request, and we will be honest about what is realistic.

The Brands and Models Behind Our Watches

We keep our focus narrow on purpose. Knowing the watches of six makers in depth means we can tell you how a particular reference has changed over the years, which details matter when you compare two examples, and what to ask before you commit. Here is a short introduction to each house and where to find it on the site.

Rolex

Rolex is usually the first name people ask about, and much of its reputation rests on two early ideas that still shape its watches today: the waterproof Oyster case of 1926 and the self-winding Perpetual rotor that followed in 1931. Our model pages cover the Submariner, Daytona, GMT-Master II, Datejust, Day-Date and Sky-Dweller, and the whole range sits in the Rolex collection. For the current catalogue, the brand's own site at rolex.com is the reference.

Audemars Piguet

Audemars Piguet changed the direction of fine watchmaking in 1972 with the Royal Oak, designed by Gérald Genta. Its octagonal bezel with eight visible screws, integrated bracelet and textured "Tapisserie" dial made steel acceptable at the top end. Browse the Royal Oak page or the wider Audemars Piguet collection, which also includes the larger, sportier Royal Oak Offshore.

Patek Philippe

Founded in Geneva in 1839, Patek Philippe is known for traditional finishing and complicated movements as much as for its sports models. The Nautilus, another Genta design, arrived in 1976 with its porthole-shaped case, and the Aquanaut followed in 1997 with a softer, more casual look. All of our Patek pieces are grouped in the Patek Philippe collection.

Cartier, Richard Mille and Hublot

Cartier's Santos dates from 1904, when it was made for the aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, and its square case and exposed screws still look modern; see the Santos page and the Cartier collection. Richard Mille, whose first watch appeared in 2001, builds light, highly engineered tonneau-shaped watches (Richard Mille collection). Hublot made its name in 1980 by pairing a precious-metal case with a natural rubber strap (Hublot collection).

Why Clients Buy Watches from Kings & Queens

Buying a high-value watch from a dealer you have not used before should feel straightforward, not like a leap of faith. These are the commitments that apply to every purchase, unless a specific listing says otherwise.

  • Authenticated before sale. Specialists inspect each piece and record its serial number, bracelet number, movement identifiers and case markings before it is listed.
  • Physically in stock. The watch is here, not with a third party, and you can inspect it before it is dispatched.
  • Box and papers stated. Every listing says clearly whether the original box and papers are included.
  • 12-month mechanical warranty. Pre-owned watches are covered for a year from delivery; new watches carry the manufacturer's warranty. Details are on our warranty page.
  • Free insured UK delivery. Signed for and tracked once dispatched, with international shipping available on most orders.
  • 14-day returns. Return a watch within 14 days for a full refund to your original payment method once it has been inspected.

How Buying Works, Step by Step

  1. Choose. Browse the shop or the model pages, or ask us to source a reference you cannot find.
  2. Ask anything. Call or message us on WhatsApp with questions about condition, history or fit, or book a private viewing in Hatton Garden.
  3. Reserve if you need time. A £100 deposit holds a watch for 3 working days. It is non-refundable, but on request it can become store credit towards another watch.
  4. Verification. To prevent fraud we may ask for identity or payment checks, and we ship only to verified addresses.
  5. Preparation. Your order is prepared within 2 to 3 working days of payment clearing: final quality checks, verification and secure packaging.
  6. Delivery. Fully insured and signed for, with tracking once it is on its way. Read more on the delivery page.

Selling a Luxury Watch to Us

We buy directly for our own stock, so there is no consignment period, no broker in the middle and no waiting for a third party to find a buyer. Valuations are free and carry no obligation. For a quick first figure, send clear photos over WhatsApp, including the dial, case back, clasp and any paperwork, and we will come back to you.

When you come in, bring the watch with its box, papers and any spare links, because a complete set is valued higher. If you cannot visit, you can send the watch to us fully insured. Once a price is agreed and the watch has been authenticated in person, payment is made by secure bank transfer. There are no hidden fees or commission: the agreed price is what you receive. Start on our sell your watch page.

What to Look for in Pre-Owned Watches

Two examples of the same reference can be quite different propositions. Condition comes first: look at the case edges and lugs for signs of heavy polishing, check the bracelet for stretch, and make sure the dial, hands and bezel are correct for the reference and year. Our guide to buying a pre-owned Rolex walks through these checks in detail.

Completeness comes next. Original box and papers help establish provenance, and complete sets are valued higher when watches are sold on later, which is why every listing states whether they are included. Spare links and service records add to the story. To understand what the paperwork should contain, read our guide to box and papers.

Finally, think about how you will wear it. Steel sports watches such as the Submariner or GMT-Master II are built for daily use, while precious-metal dress watches like the Day-Date reward a little more care. Case size, bracelet and dial colour all change how a watch sits on the wrist, so it is worth trying a few before you decide. That is exactly what a showroom appointment is for.

Part Exchange: Put Your Current Watch Towards the Next

If you already own a piece you are ready to move on from, part exchange lets you use it towards one of the watches in our stock in a single transaction. We value your watch, offset that value against the one you are buying, and you pay the balance. If yours turns out to be worth more than the one you are choosing, we pay you the difference. The exchange page explains the process in more detail.

Servicing, Repairs and Restoration with Alpha Group

Our sister business, Alpha Group, works from the same building and handles servicing, repairs and restoration. That makes it easy to have watches checked over while you are in Hatton Garden, or to arrange work on something you already own. Mechanical movements need periodic servicing to keep good time, and the right interval depends on the maker's guidance and how the watch is worn. See service and repairs for what Alpha Group offers.

Our showroom at 9 St. Cross Street, Hatton Garden

Hatton Garden has been London's jewellery quarter for well over a century and is still the centre of the UK diamond trade, so it is a natural home for a specialist dealer. All viewings are by appointment. That keeps each visit private and uninterrupted, and it gives us time to have the pieces you want to see ready when you arrive.

Appointments cover viewing and buying, selling or part exchanging, sourcing and general consultations. We are open Monday to Friday from 10:30am to 5:30pm and on Saturday from 12:00pm to 4:30pm, and closed on Sunday. Farringdon and Chancery Lane stations are both a short walk away. Find directions on our Hatton Garden showroom page, or contact us to book.

Questions About Buying Watches from Us

Are you an authorised dealer for these brands?

No. Kings & Queens Watches is an independent dealer. We are not an authorised dealer for any brand, we are not part of the Rolex Certified Pre-Owned programme, and we are not affiliated with Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Richard Mille, Cartier or Hublot.

What warranty comes with a new or pre-owned watch?

Pre-owned pieces carry our 12-month mechanical warranty from delivery, unless the listing says otherwise. New ones are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and if a pre-owned watch is still within its manufacturer's warranty, the manufacturer's terms apply.

How do you check that a watch is genuine?

Experienced specialists inspect and authenticate every watch before it is offered for sale. As part of that, they record its serial number, bracelet number, movement identifiers and case markings, so each piece we sell has a documented identity.

Can I see a watch in person before I buy?

Yes. Unless a listing says otherwise, every watch is physically held in stock, so you can book an appointment at the showroom to view it. If you are buying remotely, ask us anything you need to know by phone or WhatsApp before you commit.

Can you find a model that isn't on the website?

Yes. We source specific watches for clients on request. Tell us the reference, dial, metal and any preferences on box and papers, and we will let you know what we can find.

Do you ship watches outside the UK?

UK delivery is free, fully insured and signed for, and we offer international shipping on most orders. Get in touch with your country and the piece you are interested in, and we will confirm the options before you pay.

Can I sell or part exchange watches without coming to London?

Yes. Start with photos over WhatsApp for a quick initial valuation. If you are happy to go ahead, you can send the watch to us fully insured, and payment follows by bank transfer once it has been authenticated and the price agreed.

Ready to start? Browse the full collection, call us on 0330 043 7777 or message us on WhatsApp on +44 (0)7888 888835, and we will help you find, sell or exchange the right watch.
